Many see Florida as America’s most powerful exporter of bizarre headlines. I’ve lived there; it’s weird and beautiful. What I didn’t know when I was chucking people out of night clubs in Tallahassee back in the day, is that Florida is the second largest electricity producer in America. It’s also heavily dependent on natural gas for electricity production (as any reader of our Monopoly Area Monday series knows).

Yet, last year, the state’s Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried announced her plan to move Florida to 100% renewable energy by 2050. Can the Sunshine State become the solar haven so many want it to be?
