Grid Brief International: What Is Spain Thinking?

Spain is kicking off the new year by plotting for energy ruin. Its new left wing government has committed the country to phasing out its seven nuclear reactors by 2035.

This is a shocking turn of events, as many other European countries have begun to see Germany’s energy policy, the Energiewende, which also sought to phase out nuclear and use strictly renewable energy, as a failure.

What will this tilting at windmills mean for Spain? And for Europe?
